Yes, we provide all of these services. Both of our optometrists are members of The
Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists, the Contact lens Society and the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania.

We are a private billing practice and there may be an out-of-pocket expense for your eye examination. We routinely take a wide field scan of the eye and there is no rebate for these scans with either Medicare or private health funds. No, there is no requirement for a referral to see one of our optometrists even for a behavioural or neuro eye assessments. If, however, you do have a referral, it is welcomed and please bring it with you to the appointment.

We carry out a detailed eye examination and therefore allow at least 30 minutes for each patient we see. If we are carrying out other tests, such as a diabetic eye examination or behavioural assessment, please allow between 45 to 90 minutes.

We do not recommend that you drive for at least two and a half hours after we have dilated your pupils for a dilated fundus examination. Please arrange to either be collected from the eye examination or arrange to return home via public transport.

If this is your first time visiting our practice, if your would please fill out our Welcome to For Eyes form and either email to reception@foreyes.com.au or bring it along to your appointment. If you are unable to complete the form in advance, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment time to complete the form in the practice.

Please also bring your Medicare card, private health fund card, any current spectacles that you are using and (if relevant) any referrals from other health professionals.

There is free 1 hour parking out the front of the practice. The next best options are paid parking close by in Parry Street.

Current WA Government regulations require wearing of a mask in all allied health settings including all optical practices.

Eye tests at For Eyes Optometrist are a detailed examination of your eye health and vision, and will involve a number of steps:
• Pre-screening involving an auto-refractor. We gather information about the power of your prescription, the shape of the front surface of your eye, and intra-ocular pressure
• Retinal scanning of the back of your eye
• Discussion of your visual needs and medical history
Measurement of your visual acuity
• Assessment of your eye health
• Recommendations to maintain or improve your visual performance

Our optometrists will recommend a timeframe for your next eye exam and will set a recall date so that you get sent an SMS or email reminder around the time that your next appointment is due. This can range between 3 months to 18 months.

Eye tests involve examining a number of factors, of which visual acuity is only one. The health of your eye is extremely important and should be regularly checked despite having no issues with your vision.

Floaters and/or flashes can be caused by a number of factors. If you are experiencing any floaters/flashes that you have not noticed previously, call us to book an appointment. We will try to fit you in as quickly as we can and will most likely dilate your eyes to view the back of your eye and rule out any possible causes. If we cannot see you straight away, and you are concerned about your eyes, we recommend attending the Royal Perth Hospital or QEII Emergency Departments.
