Fremantle Traffic Bridge Construction 2026 - What You Need to Know

Planning your visit in 2026 to For Eyes Optometrist from the northern suburbs? Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming bridge closure and how to reach us easily.

What's Happening?

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge is being replaced with a new gateway to Walyalup (Fremantle). While construction techniques are allowing the existing bridge to stay open for the remainder of 2025, the bridge will close for up to 12 months starting in early 2026.

Bridge closure: Early 2026 for up to 12 months

The road network changes won't take effect until the bridge actually closes, so your current route to our practice remains unchanged for now.

From early 2026, we recommend taking the route outlined below and in the attached map.  Please allow an extra 10-15 minutes in your travel time, depending on the time of day, to account for extra traffic that you may incur in

Recommended Route from Northern Suburbs:

  1. Take Stirling Highway south (your main detour route)

  2. Cross the Stirling Bridge (as opposed to the Fremantle Bridge)

  3. Continue down Stirling Highway until High Street

  4. Turn right onto High Street - this will be your main entry point into Fremantle  (Note: You can also turn right at Marmion Street, but there will be no right turn from Stirling Highway to Canning Highway)

  5. Continue along High Street to For Eyes Optometrist (at 158 High Street) - we're located near the High Street and Parry Street junction

Allow Extra Time
